Fowey |
|
Welcome to the ancient fishing town and port of
Fowey. Let me take you through
our streets and out onto the footways, waterways and woodlands,
which surround
us.
Fowey itself boasts many Tudor cottages and some, which are older
still, dating
back to medieval times. The winding streets and tiny alleyways
instantly
transporting the visitor back to a less hurried era.

We have an excellent choice of eating places in
the town as well as many
interesting little shops and galleries, all-blending in with the
unspoilt appeal
of Fowey.

The town's two quays are excellent places from
which to observe river life during the lazy summer months.
Bustling with life, small boats and water taxis, as well as sea
birds and swans. The river is very much alive and forms an
integral part of life in Fowey.

You can take a ferry from Town Quay over to
Polruan, sampling the pubs, eating places and spectacular walks
on the other side of the Fowey River.
The Treffry family live in a 15th century fortified manor house
called Place, situated above the town close to St Fimbarrus
Church. The manor house fortifications and high boundary wall
add to the ancient feel of the town. |
