Par sprung up in the
Industrial Age during the 19th century. The village centre
revolves around Par Green and its church, the Church of the Good
Shepherd. There a number of small shops and a post office as well as
hairdressers and a chemist doted around the one-way system.
Local pubs serve a range of home cooked meals to suit every taste.

A lovely linear walk
will take you from the heart of the village out to the railway
station and on to Tywardreath, another picturesque village up
above Par.

Today Par's working
port can still be seen exporting kaolin, a product of the china
clay industry. The port is situated at the one end of the flat
sandy beach with the costal path at the other end. The
beach is dog friendly as is Par Sands Holiday Park, which is
situated behind the low dunes at the back of the beach.

To call this area
just a duck pond would be a compete misnomer. There are
wooded walks around the large pond and a grassed area behind it
that is ideal for pick nicks or to just let the children run
around. Waterfowl of many types visit the pond as well as
the local duck population. It is well worth of visit for
the birds alone but you may also be lucky enough to some of the
spectacular
dragonflies, which also inhabit the area.
